Beats Rhymes Everything Detroit would like to thank everyone who supported the BRED Hip-Hop Theatre Festival (BHHTF) in its inaugural year. This year’s success was only achieved through the deliberate demonstrations of love shown by all involved. We are grateful and excited to continue to inspire artists around the city via this platform. As we look to the future, we ask that you consider making a donation to support Hip-Hop inspired performances in Detroit. BRED Hip-Hop Theatre Festival is an entirely donation based event as we believe, if the community values the offering, they will demonstrate their care through their offering - be it financial, talent, skill, or just showing up. Visit our SUPPORT page to see how you can ensure the BRED Hip-Hop Theatre Festival is able to continue for years to come. Thank you!Sincerely,
BHHTF Executive Committee

Alesyn McCall (artistic producing director of BHHTF),

About BHHTF

16 Bars

BRED Hip-Hop Theatre Festival is the culmination of 16 Bars, a devising period consisting of just 16 days leading up the Festival. Over 16 days, 4 playwrights and production teams work together to create and showcase 4 new one-act plays inspired by a hip-hop/rap song.Playwrights and production teams are completely unaware of what song they will be given to be inspired by prior to the beginning of 16 Bars (the devising period).16 Bars is theater’s response to a sample, a remix and a freestyle all in one!
